How to find square footage

For services like carpet cleaning or floor stripping and waxing, more precise measurements help ensure accurate pricing.

1. Ask the owner or manager
Do you happen to know the square footage of the space? It’s usually listed on your lease, building records, or past service contracts.

2. Check property listings
Search your address on Zillow or LoopNet — square footage is often listed.
3. Use Google Maps or Google Earth
Search your address and use the measure tool to estimate building size.

4. Measure it yourself
Measure length × width of each area and add totals.
Example:
20 ft × 50 ft = 1,000 sq ft
Optional (when accuracy really matters)
If you need precise measurements for bidding or walkthroughs, consider hiring a local handyman to measure the space. This is often inexpensive and ensures accuracy.
Rough estimates are fine — this tool is built for real-world bidding.
A Note for New Service Providers
Some facilities may require occasional services such as floor stripping and waxing, carpet cleaning, window cleaning, or other specialty work.
If you do not currently provide these services, that should not prevent you from bidding on a contract. Many cleaning companies subcontract specialty services to experienced contractors when needed.
This allows you to maintain the contract relationship with the client while bringing in qualified specialists for specific tasks.
The important thing is to understand the scope of the work and include those services in your overall planning and pricing when necessary.
